About me
Cindy McKenzie was born in Grenada in 1970, into a typical West Indian family where it was
very common for children to be raised by grandparents, auntie and nenens (godmothers).
Her mother migrated to Aruba when she was still an infant and though her father’s presence
in her life was limited to brief visits, she remembers them as her most treasured moments.
She grew up in Celeste, a small village in St Patrick’s, where the road was her playground,
doors were never locked and the neighbours - not only looked out for the children but were
quick to discipline any child whose behavior warranted it.
She now lives in a small village called Morton, near Bourne in Lincolnshire, with her husband
and daughter, while her two teenage sons live in her homeland Grenada. When she is not
working as an Evening Receptionist at a doctor’s surgery, she works on developing her
writing skills.
